Licensees

The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board receives thousands of renewal applications each year. While renewing your license may seem simple enough (you receive courtesy renewal reminders, fill out the form, and send the payment), failure to renew in a timely manner can result in serious consequences.

If you are a licensee in the process of renewing, submitting a complete renewal application to the SLPAB in a timely manner is critical, especially since an expired license prohibits you from practicing. Keeping an updated address on file with the SLPAB is also critical as the SLPAB uses your address of record to send you courtesy renewal reminders, and other important notices and publications.

The renewal process also includes completing continuing professional development requirements. In order to renew a license as active, you must complete the required continuing professional development hours. For more information on the continuing professional development requirements, please see the CPD FAQs under http://www.slpab.ca.gov/licensees/cpdfaq.shtml. Those who choose to renew the license inactive are not required to complete continuing professional development. However, you may not practice speech-language pathology or audiology with an inactive license.
