Live Scan Information

The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board issues licenses and registrations that require a criminal history clearance from the Department of Justice. In the past, the Board has required all applicants submit "ink prints" directly to the Board office, which were then forwarded to the Department of Justice for processing. This can be a lengthy process.

The goal of this system is to improve and expedite the fingerprint clearance process. The process is made possible through digitization of fingerprints, which enables electronic transfer of the fingerprint images to central site computers at the Department of Justice. This system requires the applicant to go to a Live Scan site and directly pay for fingerprint scanning services. Live Scan sites are situated throughout the State at various locations within each county. For a complete listing of Live Scan sites; visit the Department of Justice Web site.

Live Scan fees vary depending upon site specific rolling fees. Business hours are noted for each location on the listing: however, you are encouraged to call the site first to determine if an appointment is necessary.

If you choose to use the Live Scan process you must use the "Request for Live Scan Service" form and take the form (in triplicate) to the Live Scan site. After the scanning process is complete the Live Scan operator will give you parts 2 and 3 of the form. It is your responsibility to send to the Board page 2 of the form along with your application so that we know your fingerprints have been scanned.
